Barwon heads located an hour out of Melbourne on the Bellarine Peninsula – Hayley

We recently purchased an old 70’s retro brown brick which comes complete with floral royal blue carpet and orange kitchen. We are not retro fans so it’s undergoing a renovation right now!!. – Hayley

My favourite thing in my home is my sleek American Oak timber bed made for us by my husband James’ business, Concrete Architecture – Hayley

6. coffee tea or?

decaf – Hayley (but thats true for us all!)

7. what is on your shopping list?

Food wise everything and it’s a full trolley at the end. Apart from food it’s new furniture … Would loooove a Togo couch for the new house and Oly lights from Coco Republic … Dream on! – Hayley

We spend time everyday at the beach where we live (Point Lonsdale) – rockpooling, swimming, walking the dog. It’s pretty heavenly down here. We just love the beach so much. – Kate

Gertrude Street Fitzroy for sure. It has everything! I love Third Drawer Down for gifts, Dagmar Rousset and Obus for clothing, Pressed Juices for amazing drinks and foodie options are endless. From Casa Ciuccio to Enoteca to Cutler & Co to Ladro to Trippy Taco – breakfast lunch and dinner we are beyond spoilt on gertrude st. – Kate

Saturday – Mal is around and we often have friends from Melbourne visit for the night which we love. – Kate

A real favourite for me is the Geelong Vintage Market. I end up there often for a fossick. Somedays you find nothing and other days you find treasures like nothing else around. Have a good hour up your sleeve if you ever hit this place. It’s enormous. – Kate

Rita’s in Abbotsford is my absolute favourite spot to eat right now. We go once a week after work as it is right near our studio. – Kate

I make a healthy and delicious chicken vegetable soup with a full chook, lots of herbs and garden vegies. Mal and our little fella Zig love it with crusty bread and butter. I make an irrestible salted butter in the thermomix too. – Kate

megan gale for target home collection

Megan Gale is a house hold name, I have worked with Megan a number of times, on the Media launch for this Collection, Editorial shoots and Campaign shoots for big brands too. I have always been impressed by her striking beauty (of course) but also her exceptional good manners, she is super friendly, a straight shooter and totally professional and great to work with! I guess this explains her longevity ( lets be honest no one want to works with difficult people right?) She is a working mum and a smart business woman too, her latest venture a Home Collection with Target Australia is in store today. The collection has a focus on bedding inspired by cities from Megan’s travels.

Congrats Megan well done!

MJG styling for sheridan

Lets set sail! I Have teamed up with Sheridan with my style edit of their latest collection in an exciting in store and online campaign

Of course I loved all their shades of blue inspired by the ocean, with a coastal feel. It’s totally my vibe!

It was a chance to inject my own style and personality, oh and yes I get to be the stylist and the in front of the camera talent too (fun right!?)

My style is relaxed, laid back and causal. Im a stylist but I don’t like things to be too over styled. This is how i like to live.

Bed linen and textiles are my weakkenss I love splurging on quality linens – especially for the bed.

Its no secret I’m inspired by nature and have a love for all shades of blues. I love living in Bondi by the ocean it never gets old.

I have always been a fan of a nautical theme for as long as I can remember.

We created the ultimate inspirational bed set up on Avalon beach with a castaway feel ( so much fun!) and also shot on location at a nearby house with a neutral timber vibe for that relaxed interior feeling.

Take a look here at some of the campaign images and some behind the scenes styling (below) to be inspired or head in store to see more – you might see someone you know!

Its cold out so it’s the perfect time to add layers and texture to your home. I know in the colder months bed is where I want to be.

bts major minor bed shoot

Working on shoots for brands big or small is one of my favourite parts on my job, Working to create something out of nothing in a photographic studio is fun for an interior stylist, with a big imagination. I also love it when i get to put on my Producer/Art director hat and help the client come up with the concept too.

Im a big fan of beautiful linen so working on shoots for Major Minor is always a pleasure, and of course I get to see their new colours and designs first!

I always have fun with what I do – otherwise why would you dot it – Look even making the bed can be fun! Oh and a little bit of instagraming goes on of course! Oh and look I’m actually wearing (sensible studio) shoes not always perpetually barefoot!

Are you a fan of a neat or messy bed?

major minor ocean collab

Recently I styled the latest bed linen colours for Major Minor Sydney including new colour  “ocean” ( the perfect sea foam green) a colour I came up with for them. Inspired by my love of the sea, my current obsession with muted pastels and Icebergs iconic pool this colour is the perfect fresh colour injection in my favourite style of making the bed mix n match.

major minor sydney launch their online store

I recently helped style some images for Major Minor Sydney – a brand new mother/daughter company by Anne and Hannah who have the best bed linen, its really good value for money, which makes it even better right?!

I met them at Lifeinstyle awhile back and was instantly impressed by their fun and bright samples. Styling good quality linen is so much fun for a stylist- playing with its texture, weight and how it drapes, we kept the images and styling simple to showcase the linen (which is a dream to sleep on trust me i have a slight obsession for textiles, mainly bedlinen and blankets) – fast forward a few weeks and their very cool website is now up and running and we can now share with you the beautiful colours available. I have to say dash and gun grey are my favourites but i am considering the flash blue too.
