sagitine christmas

Recently I styled some Christmas images for fellow beach side resident Sagitine  – some of the most beautiful storage you will find! yes I said beautiful and storage in the same sentence!

We had a fun day creating a little Christmas magic, its amazing what a little imagination and a roll of ribbon and some masking/painters tape you can come up with! A Ribbon Christmas Tree! its easy enough to do at home and great if you don’t have space for a 3 dimensional tree! we added in a cute dog for some of our shots ( Sagitine Owner Tina’s dog Spike) and we were set!

think (pale) pink

Summer is coming you can almost feel it! it’s the perfect time to play with colour in your home.

Soft pale pink has been popping up on my radar for a little while. I love soft, faded pastel shades and pink is it! don’t be afraid of a little pink!

Pink can scare some of us, seen by many as feminine and too pretty but Im not afraid of a little pink at home and I even have a favourite soft pink shirt!

Here is my Pink Edit in store and online from Country Road and 5 tips to working with pink at home.

1. Get the shade right, Pink isn’t always the easiest shade to decorate with its all in selecting the right pink. Soft pale pink is easy to work with consider it almost a neutral, It adds a freshness and calming vibe to any space. I prefer softer shades to loud or bubblegum varieties but you be the judge of how much pink you think.

2. Add a little, don’t go pink crazy (well unless you LOVE it!) a little goes a long way, perfect to add a hint of pink with fresh flowers or table ware to brighten up your day.

3. Pink and grey are best friends, pink and all shades of grey go great together, think textiles and cushions for your sofa or for the bedroom.

4 . As with all colours try before you buy, just like your wardrobe ease into a new colour remembering if pink works in your wardrobe ( or as a go to lip colour) it can also work at home too!

5. Make Pink modern and sophisticated, it’s really easy to make pink look a little dated, forget the frills and lace and floral motifs, instead think bold geometric shapes, sophisticated ceramics and clean lines.

a pop of yellow with moody blues from country road

Its no secret yellow is one of my favourite shades mixed with moody blues its the perfect pop of colour in these cooler months. Don’t we all need something to brighten out day!

An early start requires coffee (always) and a quick (healthy) breakfast – usually cereal and always a banana. Why not serve these up in your favourite shade! My usual morning routine is to get up, get dressed, eat breakfast and take our Boston Terrier Sophia for a walk, somehow she always manages to find the perfect hiding spot on the sofa amongst the cushions (she isn’t a morning person either) If I’m up super early for an early shoot call time I will make a Push the button coffee at home otherwise my preferred is Panama House – my Bondi regular morning pit stop – where I love a coffee and a chat with the locals.

Winter in Bondi is just as beautiful as summer, Its Australia’s most famous Beach and I love to call Bondi home. Its beautiful all year round and in winter just as so it’s just that the tones of the beach and ocean are deeper and more moodier. The beach isn’t always about summer and swimming (which I love) I love the ever changing shades of the sea and a little fossaking after the storm you never know what you might find, perhaps a fallen branch perfect for a vase at home.

A perk of being an interior Stylist is there are often flowers at home, left over from photo shoots often. I love the instant pick me up of popping fresh flowers into a vase at home – they need not be expensive. My favourite include Peonies and garden roses but just choose what looks best on the day, These water lilies caught my eye! Flowers are great for adding a little  bit of cheer especially in the cooler months when things can feel a bit grey. Why do I love yellow you ask? well it such a fun happy colour, really it just adds a bit of sunshine to our home and makes me smile! Colour is a signature to my decorating style and you can’t underestimate the power of a pop of colour. Adding just a pop of colour is an easy way for those not brave enough to add a large splash to your space . So think small perhaps a cup a cushion or even a towel in the bathroom to add a little splash of colour. The best place to take colour inspiration you ask? I take my queues from nature. If you’re not sure and lack colour confidence take a look inside your wardrobe – if its a colour you like to wear chances are its a great colour to decorate with at home.

major minor ocean collab

Recently I styled the latest bed linen colours for Major Minor Sydney including new colour  “ocean” ( the perfect sea foam green) a colour I came up with for them. Inspired by my love of the sea, my current obsession with muted pastels and Icebergs iconic pool this colour is the perfect fresh colour injection in my favourite style of making the bed mix n match.

aquabumps art insitu

Just when I feel like I have been away from Bondi for ages heres a little something from Home…

I have know the awesome team behind Aquabumps Eugene and Deb since moving to Bondi – I like their style, I have even styled their Home for Inside Out Magazine, remember it was on the cover…

Eugene is Bondi’s best photographer no one quite captures Bondi like him.

Aquabumps have an awesome Gallery space in Bondi and also sell prints (frame and unframed) online. Since discovering his work we have for ages talked about a collaboration and have wanted to create some insitu room shots to show you how good these artworks are going to look in real spaces. So we set out creating some real room sweet ups to showcase the art.

Buying art is hard enough but then having to visualise how its going to look can be tricky for the best of us – so hey presto here you go, we created some beautiful images so you can have a better idea of how these awesome prints ( I have two of my very own) will look on your walls!

My number one tip for Art at Home – size matter think big!
